Guernsey Post aimed to improve online shopping options for island residents, who have faced limited access to UK retailers due to delivery restrictions. To address this, Guernsey Post introduced a solution that allows locals to use a UK address for shopping. By providing a UK postcode, users can have their items shipped to their UK address and then forwarded to Guernsey for a fee. This service effectively removes the shipping barriers that islanders previously faced, making it easier for them to shop online from UK and international retailers.
Additionally, Guernsey Post offers a comprehensive retailer directory to help users navigate the complexities of online shopping. Since Guernsey is a VAT-free island, many islanders want to know whether a retailer adds VAT to their products, as they can benefit from lower prices on goods that aren’t subject to the island’s VAT. The directory also provides information on whether retailers ship to the island, along with their return policies, ensuring users have all the details they need before making a purchase.
The Challenge
Design new pages to the existing GP website, adhering to their design system. The project involved three main UI design tasks:
-
Rockshopper Directory: The existing retailer search facility was redesigned with an e-commerce product catalogue approach. Key features included a faceted search filter, allowing users to easily navigate a growing list of retailers with information on VAT and shipping fees.
-
myUKAddress Landing Page: I designed a landing page for myUKAddress, which allows island residents to shop from UK retailers. Additionally, I redesigned the MyPost dashboard to integrate myUKAddress, providing users with a seamless way to manage their shipments.
-
Promotional Panels: I designed two promotional panels for the Guernsey Post website homepage to highlight Rockshopper and myUKAddress services, boosting visibility and engagement.
Solution Rockhopper
The website was designed with a mobile-first approach, ensuring smooth functionality across devices. Live screenshots from each retailer's website are regularly updated on the Guernsey Post directory to maintain accuracy. The layout also adapts for iPad and desktop, with responsive scaling across platforms. A pop-up filter is provided on mobile, while iPad and desktop versions feature a left-side filter for easier navigation. Additionally, a red and green light system is incorporated into the icons to highlight important information for the user.

Solution myUKaddress
The myUKaddress landing page needed to accommodate a large amount of information while integrating smoothly with the Rockshopper landing page and directory to create a cohesive experience. My primary focus was to keep content compact and user-friendly, ensuring clarity without overcrowding, and adhering to accessibility guidelines to make the information easily understandable for all users.

Dashboard Solution
In addition to incorporating a new section for myUKaddress into the GP dashboard, the existing interface needed a refresh with updated images and color coding to clearly distinguish between the various services where users can add or edit their information.

Promotional panels
A banner was designed to promote the launch of the MUKA and Rockhopper services and were prominently featured on the GP homepage.
