Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) refers to any support that aims to protect or promote mental well-being and help people cope with psychological and social challenges – especially in crisis or conflict settings. It includes everything from professional mental health care to community-based activities that support emotional recovery, strengthen social connections, and restore a sense of safety and normalcy.

I was tasked with designing a website in connection with the upcoming MHPSS conference in Oslo in 2026.

The Challenge

The goal was not just to create a one-time event site, but to build a platform that could live on beyond the conference – serving as an active hub for the Nordic network. The site is designed to host news, articles, and updates from professionals across the region, making it a dynamic resource for collaboration, awareness, and continued advocacy.

Solution

To promote Global Mental Health and highlight the Nordic contribution, a long-lasting website was created to serve beyond the biannual MHPSS conferences. At its core is a dynamic news section where professionals can regularly share articles, research, and updates.

Key posts can be pinned for visibility, and the flexible layout makes it easy to combine text with images for better engagement. The site has been refreshed with a clean, modern look that reflects its forward-thinking mission and keeps the conversation active year-round.

Design process

The website was designed with a mobile-first approach, prioritising accessibility, clarity, and ease of use across all devices. A full content library was created to support development, including reusable components, colour choices, and font sizing tailored to the theme. The colour palette – soft tones of green, blue, and blush pink – was chosen to evoke calmness, trust, and warmth, aligning with the values of mental health support. Components were carefully designed to distinguish between articles, news, and events, ensuring users can easily navigate and engage with the site’s evolving content.
